Rough Scene By Scene Outline (1st Half)



Opening Scene



Scene 1: Opening sequence/Morning Routine

The busker is talking into the mirror, (a short quote). He then turns the light on and the camera cuts to reveal him brushing his teeth and washing his face in front of the mirror.

Checking bills/putting guitar in the case whilst narrating on his life.

Scene 2: Busking Spot

He then walks out of the house slamming the door behind him. (Cue music from the door slamming of coins dropping into a guitar case or floor)

Shots of the busker walking the streets on the way to his usual busking spot.

Music builds up from the beat to acoustic guitar before cutting the beat out when the busker is in shot playing guitar. (The guitar carries on to reveal him playing the music).

Shot of the busker playing and a business man in a suit walks past and drops 56p into his guitar case at 8:45am, he does this at the same time every day. (The busker narrates on how he does this every day). Montage of people giving hi a bit of money. Morning is the best time to busk, the coffee rush, everybody’s rushing to get to work?

Scene 3: Moving On

The busker moves on to his next spot of the day. To show a normal day in the life of the busker. Shots of him playing, people walking past and giving him funny looks, occasionally he makes a bit of money.

Scene 4: Cafe

Shot of the busker sitting in a cafe with a cup of tea and a sandwich, everyone giving him funny looks but he doesn’t acknowledge this. To show he’s a very lonely guy and doesn’t like having much company. (Narration: I often sit in here for hours because lunch time isn’t a very busy time for me?)

Scene 5: Rush Hour

He walks back from the cafe at around 3/4 o’clock every day to get back for rush hour. montage of a few of the same people walking to work in the morning giving him money on the way back from work. After rush hour is over and there are no more people walking past he decides to head home at around 5/6 o’clock. At this point it is has become very dark.



Scene 6: Mugged

As he is walking home two lads attempt to steal his guitar. He hangs on to it because it is the only important thing in his life. He manages to hold onto the guitar and the lads run off into the distance. In the struggle the thugs break a string and the busker goes into his house and shuts the door behind him.

The next shot is of him fixing the broken string which he has to repair. He takes an old string off an old broken guitar in the corner of the room and attaches it to his guitar. He cannot afford to buy a new string with the money he earns from busking. Shot of him fixing guitar with a cigarette in his mouth, opens a bottle of cider and falls asleep with the cigarette in his hand. Scene fades out with the cigarette burning out in his hand. Scene ends.

Scene 7: Next Day

There is a knock at the door. Shot opens with the door knock waking him up in the same chair and going over to the blind, looking through and seeing a man in a suit standing there. The camera then pans to a shot of the bills on the windowsill. He thinks the man wants to speak to him about not paying his bills. The man then leaves and the busker quickly rushes to get ready and arrive at the busking location to make it to his spot in time for the rush hour. He gets there just before the business man walks past and hasn’t even started playing yet although the business man still drops the usual 56p into his guitar case.
